I have had buyers who would not even look at a house if the view was not acceptable. For this particular client there was a basic list of requirements, if the house met those then we went to see it. The first thing we would do was check out the view. The mountain view complete with an unhindered Bogus Basin and Shafer Butte was the ticket. If the view met the requirements we would look at the rest of the house. If it was deemed as inferior and not up to par, then upward and onward to the next house. After looking at every home for sale in Boise we did finally land on a hilltop beauty with a great view of the mountains and even got part of downtown in as well. This particular buyer passed up a lot of great homes in order to find the one that had the “perfect” view. It was of course her perfect view. My perfect view would have a river in it, while yours might be looking down a fairway at Crane Creek. Others prefer to be in the foothills with a great view of downtown Boise and the amazing sunsets that we get here in Boise. Sometimes while trying to buy Boise real estate a view may not be in your budget. A view might mean something other than the side of the neighbor’s house, something in the distance, even if it does not qualify as a feature that would help a home sell for more. I will relate a funny story about views and realtors selling homes in Boise. Years ago I was helping a client find a home in the Boise foothills. A view was not at the top of her list but would be an added bonus. We came across a listing in Foothills East that said “some city view”. After looking around the house we realized we had missed “some city view”. We were pretty sure they meant Boise’s downtown core. After looking around we realized that if you scrunched in behind the recliner and stood in the very corner of the living room with your head practically against the wall you could at a very obtuse angle see the corner of 3 buildings in downtown. I must say that is a great example of over selling the sizzle! We laughed to say the least. It was almost as funny as the agent who advertised their listing as “once one of Boise’s finest homes” which we took to mean that it was a real piece of junk now.
Options for view homes for sale in Boise are many. Boise homes for sale with city views are popular. There are waterfront homes for sale with great views. Both on rivers and ponds. Homes for sale in Boise with mountain views. View homes on golf courses. But the best view in town is the combo view. That is the view from the edge of the bench overlooking the parks and the downtown skyline with the mountains in the back ground. When the sun gets low late in the day the rolling topography in the foothills makes for a dramatic play of light and shadow, as the lights of the city take over and the purple hues explode in the mountains it is absolutely gorgeous. I grew up on Houston road above what is now Kathryn Albertson park and took for granted that great view till I moved away to college. Boise was then and still is a great place to raise a family, or enjoy the golden years of your life.
