Boise Outdoors Close, Convenient, Quality!
Skiing 1 hour, check. Rafting 1 hour, check. Mountain biking/hiking 5 minutes, check. Water skiing 20 minutes, check. Camping 1 hour, check. The list goes on, from world class winter kite surfing to sturgeon and bass fishing.
It does not matter if you are a hunter, hiker or mountain biker. Rafter, soaker or big time loafer. It is all within a relatively short drive. For instance undeveloped camp sites along the South Fork of the Payette near Grandjean are to die for. You drive by 4 sections of whitewater from class II to class IV. Six or so hot springs, like world class skinny dipper to smaller river side pools like Kirkham hot spring. All surrounded by national forest for hiking, biking and hunting or just sitting on a beach. Or travel the other way into the desert unknown, or so it feels. With heavily volcanic inspired topography that has been cut deep into terra firma by both the Bruneau and Owyhee rivers, the stunning scenic displays seem to appear out of nowhere. Where just a second ago the prairie swept away for what seemed like forever, you find yourself staring down into an abyss with a silver lining running the course of the bottom. So much yet explored, so few days in the year.
Trick or Treat, October 31 2105. One hour forty minutes from Target at Chinden, door to cliff.
40 minutes from Boise to the Butte.
Smoky Sawtooths 1.5 hours from Boise. Seen from Grandjean side, Fox creek.
